Project Chairman : Sriyanthi Perera

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Bellanthudawa Royal Ladies Lions Club organized a special training program for pre-school teachers in the Horana Divisional Secretariat area. This program was designed to help teachers improve their teaching methods and better understand how to support young children in their early learning. It focused on practical skills, creative teaching ideas, and how to create a fun and caring classroom environment. We wanted to use this occasion to recognize the important work done by pre-school teachers every day. Their role in shaping the minds and hearts of little children is truly valuable, and we were happy to support them with this training. The event was a warm and inspiring gathering, bringing together dedicated women educators who left feeling more confident, appreciated, and motivated in their work.

Self-employment training project for women (training women in sewing handbags)

By lions Club of BELLANTUDAWA ROYAL LADIES on 2025-02-21
Project Chairman : Sriyanthi Perera

The Bellanthudawa Royal Ladies Lions Club recently carried out a special project to help women in our community learn new skills and become more independent. This project focused on training women to sew handbags, giving them a chance to learn a useful skill that can help them earn an income from home. Ten women took part in this training, which was a hands-on and supportive learning experience. The training sessions were held at Lion Krishanthi’s home in Ramukkana, Bandaragama, which provided a warm and welcoming space for everyone to work and learn together. We believe that even small steps like this can lead to big changes in the lives of women. By helping them build their confidence and learn practical skills, we hope to see them start their own small businesses or support their families financially. This was one of the many meaningful service projects carried out by our club, and we are proud to continue working towards women’s empowerment and community development.
