![]() On behalf of Sight Day, our club, organized a free eye screening camp for over 120 family members of Primary Model School students. This initiative aimed to detect vision impairments and guide those in need toward proper eye care solutions. Following the checkups, individuals diagnosed with weak eyesight were referred for further examinations and corrective lenses. Additionally, our club generously donated 110 pairs of reading glasses to those requiring them, ensuring that financial limitations did not hinder access to proper vision care. This program not only raised awareness about eye health but also provided practical support to those in need. By facilitating early detection and offering free spectacles, we contributed to enhancing the quality of life for many, reinforcing our dedication to community well-being and accessible healthcare. |

During this initiative, we planted 5 jackfruit trees at the school premises that generously hosted the event. The school’s support was evident as they volunteered their entire Sunday to help organize and facilitate the project. This entire project was 100% donated by Lion Madeera and Lion Ayesh Sirithilake, who served as President and Treasurer, respectively, during the previous Lion year. This initiative not only promoted environmental awareness but also contributed to a greener, more sustainable future for the community. |

These informative leaflets, which he designed himself, were aimed at raising awareness about the importance of diabetes prevention and management. After screening the participants for diabetes, Dr. Erabeddagoda, along with his wife, personally engaged with each patient, providing individualized verbal awareness based on their diabetes levels. They ensured that every patient fully understood their condition and the necessary steps to manage it. In addition to offering tailored guidance, they referred patients to further check-ups, ensuring that those in need received the appropriate medical attention. This remarkable effort, led by Dr. Harshana Erabeddagoda, reflected his unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of the community, further enhancing the impact of the initiative. |

This event, part of Diabetes Day, was a huge success, serving over 120 individuals despite previous time constraints. A key part of the initiative was the Diabetes Screening Camp, fully funded by our club Member Dr. Harshana Erabeddagoda and his wife who is also a doctor. Their generous support, along with a diabetes screener from Asiri Surgical Hospital, Matara, allowed us to offer critical health screenings and guidance. This initiative not only addressed diabetes but also focused on environmental awareness and vision health. The event stands as a testament to our club’s commitment to community service, global health, and sustainability, highlighting the power of collaboration in making a difference. We are proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing our efforts for a healthier and more sustainable future. |

Competitions and interactive sessions educate them on handling success and failure effectively. A skilled trainer was engaged to execute these programs efficiently. The principal and academic staff play a key role in guiding students while fostering the values of the Lions Club. To support this initiative, the Legends Lions Club has contributed LKR 26,000 for refreshments, ensuring a positive learning environment. |
