Awareness and Health Clinic on Diabetic and NCD

An awareness seminar and screening clinic for diabetics and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) was conducted at the YMBA Hall in Matara on April 25, 2025, in collaboration with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) office, Matara. The public was informed about this event three weeks in advance, inviting them to participate and access services free of charge. While the primary target age group was individuals aged 35-50, all members of the community were welcome, given the availability of time and facilities. The program featured a health staff of 18 members, including three doctors, nurses, and other health officers, who facilitated the event. It ran for over five hours, starting at 9:00 AM and concluding at 1:30 PM. More than 75 attendees participated in the awareness sessions and received clinical services. Refreshments included a traditional cup of Kurakkan kada for the attendees, while the health staff enjoyed morning tea accompanied by snacks and lunch. The event w

Setting up SMART Classroom - Pragathi National Hospital Galle

Dr Naj Nagendran with donors Mr Rammi Gujral and Ms Rosemarie Peris donated the smart board to Pragathi (Pediatric neuro development centre) at National Hospital in memory of Gaurav Gujral. Doctors at centre will be using the board to do their lessons to young medical students, Special education teacher training, therapist training as well as developing visual and audio skills of kids attending treatment and therapy. The special education teacher and the speech therapist have many work plans to develop the kids attending centre This smart classroom will take the centre to the next level of globalizing education. This project, an Oversea collaborative effort between Lions Club of Baddegama, 306 A2 - Sri Lanka and Lions Clubs of District 307-A2 (Indonesia) and Lions Clubs of District 308-A2 (Malaysia) Clubs, collaborative effort provided much-needed intercommunication devices and a sound system to a Baddegama Hospital in Sri Lanka. This Service project filled a long-standing need and was met with significant praise from the hospital staff and the community. The faces of the hospital staff, etched with years of dedication, bloomed with gratitude. Lions had given them more than just a sound system; they had given them a voice. The clear communication, a silent promise of assistance, became the bridge connecting doctors, nurses, and patients. The cheers of a happy community echoed through the halls, a testament to the transformative power of kindness. Held at her salon, the session focused on teaching simple, day-to-day makeup techniques suitable for daily professional life.
