An awareness seminar and screening clinic for diabetics and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) was conducted at the YMBA Hall in Matara on April 25, 2025, in collaboration with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) office, Matara. The public was informed about this event three weeks in advance, inviting them to participate and access services free of charge. While the primary target age group was individuals aged 35-50, all members of the community were welcome, given the availability of time and facilities.
The program featured a health staff of 18 members, including three doctors, nurses, and other health officers, who facilitated the event. It ran for over five hours, starting at 9:00 AM and concluding at 1:30 PM. More than 75 attendees participated in the awareness sessions and received clinical services. Refreshments included a traditional cup of Kurakkan kada for the attendees, while the health staff enjoyed morning tea accompanied by snacks and lunch.
