BEACH CLEANING

It was a great day and there were 30 of us in our team. We started cleaning the beach at the 7 am from Mount lavinia hotel end and cleaned around 1km along the beach. Collected 5, 6 bag full of polythene, beer cans and plastic bottles ect. We finished around 9 am and had our Breakfast at the beach too. Had fun filled day with during cleaning, Looking forward to do it again soon in the future too.

VEDDAS HERITAGE RATHUGALA DONATION OF BOOKS

There were 83 School children in total and they did not have enough facilities and study materials for theirs studies. So we kindly helped them with what we can help. From Piliyandala to Rathugala journey was not that easy. thet was 7 hours one way and we left Piliyandala 4 am and reached the Rathugala at around 11.30 am. As soon as kids spotted our bus we saw beautiful smile on theirs faces. That made our day and Parents , Kids , Adivasin welcomed us happily and they even did not forget to treat us some sweets and drinks. The Project was incredibly made us happy. Thanks to all our lions and non lions who helped us.

The Halthota Centennial Lions Club conducted the first Lion Year 2024-2025 project on 05-07-2014 at Sahana Sewana affiliated with Apeksha Hospital. A religious sermon was given there &a tea ceremony was held for the patients & employees in the institution.

On July 20, 2024, under the initiative of President Lion Dr. Manatunga, a project was carried out to provide dry food items to the “Gaman Sewana” elderly women's home at Galpatha Kuragoda.

Arranging Cataract Operations

Cataract Surgery was done at the cost of Rs 83,500/- through Kadawatha Eye Hospital on 23rd July 2024. The patient is Mrs Sandya Kumari Gamage of Karawhena, Kuda Uduwa. NOTE : We personally spoke to Dr Manel Pasqual as the surgery was very urgent. At Horana Hospital she had to wait another 1 1/2 month to get the thing done. Other Private Hospitals the charge is double. As they are the villagers whom we know very well, it is not nice to get photographs. Special Note : WE ARE NOT CLAIMING FOR THE CATARACT SURGERIES. THIS IS ONLY FOR ARRANGING OPERATIONS.

Cataract Surgery was done at the cost of Rs 27,500/- through Kadawatha Eye Hospital on 17th July 2024. The patient is Mr R A Gunasiri, Horaketiya, Kuda Uduwa. NIC 510661613V NOTE : This gentleman also living very closer to our house. As he is old we managed to arrange the surgery for Rs 27,500/- by personally contacting PID Mahesh Pasqual. SPECIAL NOTE : WE ARE NOT CLAIMING FOR THE CATARACT SURGERIES. THIS IS ONLY FOR ARRANGING OPERATIONS.Note : Covering letter is attached herewith.

Donation of a Wheel Chair

Donated a wheelchair on 17th July 2024 to Mrs H B Kusumawathie of 87B, Hithetiya Central, Matara. Cost Rs 40,000/- NOTE : There were two wheel chairs ready for donation. Attached a photograph to the previous one with both banners. There is no space here to attach that photograph. The eldest son of this mother was the Office Assistant of the Chairman of MBSL where I worked. He is Mr U L T Amarasinghe. There wheel chairs were imported by us personally. Donated a wheelchair on 16th July 2024 to Mr Indika Telikadaarachchi of Weediyagoda Road, Godigamuwa, Gonapola Junction. Cost Rs 40,000/- Note : Two wheel chairs were ready to deliver. Although, they don't have a proper income, are relatives of one of the Lions. Because of that we didn't want to get photographs. From the surname that can be identified. His leg was cut due to a wound. He is a diabetic patient. The patient and his mother is in the picture. SPECIAL NOTE : PDG NIMAL ALUTHGE IMPORTED ONE CONTAINER LOAD OF WHEEL CHAIRS FROM AUSTRALIA DURING THE YEAR 2008 / 2009. THERE WERE FEW LEFT OVER. AT THE REQUEST OF THEM WE DONATED THIS.

Donated Dry rations to a Cancer Patient in Grama Niladari Division 614 Kuda Uduwa on 08th July 2024 at the Elders Committee. The cost is Rs 5,000/- She is living alone and according to her this parcel will suffice her for one and half months.

Providing Educational Support

The signature project of sponsoring Rs 2,000/- to a child in a single parent family. Child is Ranasinghage Umarsha Kavishan who studies in the grade 6 at Handupelpola Vidyalaya. Mother is Nayana Lasanthi Jayawardena of 69/55, Indipitiyagama, Kindelpitiya, Millewa. She is a mother of three kids. Her ID No. 197568503546. Their only income is “Samurdhi” which is a government payment for the people in need. Lion Sriyani sponsored this last year and this year Lion Hasitha will be sponsoring it.
