School Uniform Aid Program: Distributing 205 Uniform Vouchers to Support School Children

The School Uniform Aid Project provided 205 uniform vouchers to underprivileged children, ensuring they have the necessary attire for school. This initiative supports educational equity by removing financial barriers to proper school clothing cost of Rs.205 000.The Governor and other esteemed guests presented few vouchers as a symbolic gesture.

School Garden Enhancement: Incorporating Herbal Plants into the School Garden

This project focused on planting herbal plants in the school garden, providing students with hands-on experience in gardening. It aims to educate them about the importance of herbs, promote sustainability, and enhance the school environment by offering practical, eco-friendly learning opportunities. The project was executed with a total budget of Rs.6,000, resulting in the planting of 20 herbal plants. The Governor and other esteemed guests planted a few plants as a symbolic gesture.

Sondra Sihinayaki Raa Fund Raising Event

The “Somduru Sihinayaki Raa” fundraising event was successfully held on 12th February 2025 at the Chamber of Commerce Auditorium, Galle, with the participation of approximately 300 audience members. This event was organized with the dual purpose of raising funds for the charitable services carried out by the Lions Club of Galle Karapitiya, and to foster fellowship and brotherhood among Lions members from Region 8 and Region 9. The program was well-received and marked a meaningful step towards uniting the Lions community and supporting ongoing social service initiatives.

Vision -Cataract operation - Mrs Badrawathi

Mrs Badrawathi had a cataract surgery few months ago but she has met with an accident at home (the grandson has mistakenly hit her eye with a ball). Her lens was damaged an eye surgeon has recommended an emergency surgery of removing the old lens and implant a fresh lens. Lion Janaka de silva sponsored all expenses of Badrawathi and got the lens and other facilities to save her eye. None of us could personally attend at the ward because it happened during non visitor time. We are planning to visit her personaly in the evening on 2nd May
