Musical Evening for Elders at Bonavista Elders Home

On March 3rd, from 6:15 PM to 10:00 PM, a musical evening was held at Bonavista Elders Home, Unawatuna, Galle, bringing joy to the residents. The Legends Lions Club, along with another Lions Club, organized a live music session, featuring Lions with singing talents. Elderly residents, Galle YMBA President, board members, and community members joined the event.Snack packs worth Rs. 12,000 and a sound system worth Rs. 14,000 were sponsored, totaling Rs. 26,000. The musical performance brought immense joy to the residents, with Lions singing and the elders happily joining in the celebration. Legends Lions Club’s Guiding Lion, Sagarika Jayaratne, and Galle Business Lions Club member, Lion Samantha Kanakaratne, also participated.The event created a memorable experience, where the residents clapped, sang along, and even danced to the rhythm. The Lions Club’s selfless service continues to make a positive impact in the community.

On March 3rd, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, a meaningful charitable initiative took place at the Galle Bonavista Elders Home, organized by the Young Members of the Buddhist Association (YMBA). The project provided evening meals for 167 residents, ensuring their well-being and comfort. The necessary funds were generously sponsored by Legends Lions Club President, Lion Karunadasa Weeraratne. The event began with a Buddhist offering and blessings, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. YMBA President was also present, engaging with the residents as they received the meal with gratitude. The Elders Home administration highly appreciated this effort, recognizing it as a valuable act of service. This project not only brought joy to the residents but also reflected the Lions’ commitment to selfless giving and community support.

Ransiha Re Musical Night – A District Lions Club Initiative

On March 2nd, from 6:30 PM to midnight, the Piliyandala Central College Auditorium hosted the "Ransiha Re" musical event, a district-level Lions Club project. The Legends Lions Club proudly sponsored the participation of two singers and six supporting members for this grand occasion. In its 13th edition, the event featured captivating performances, including two songs by Lion Swarnamala Jayathilaka and Lion Neranjala Jayawardana. Around 30 Lions from Region 8 and Region 9 participated, making it a significant gathering. Legends Lions Club’s Guiding Lion, Lion Sagarika Jayaratne, also took part, contributing to the musical performances. The evening brought immense joy and entertainment to the district Lions, with governors and past governors in attendance. Strengthening bonds among various Lions Clubs, the project played a vital role in fostering unity and enthusiasm within the community. The unique blend of classic and contemporary songs performed by Lions themselves.

Charitable Donation for a Mother in Need

On February 27th, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, a charitable initiative took place at Lion Harshani Sirimanne’s residence to support a mother from Galle-Akurassa, whose husband had lost his job recently. Expecting her second child, she received essential maternity and newborn care items, following medical advice, to ensure a safe delivery. The donation, valued at Rs. 17,077, aimed to provide maximum support. This noble act was connected to Lion Harshani’s family, with a heartfelt contribution. Legends Lions Club President, Lion Methsiri De Silva, also participated. The mother expressed deep gratitude, finding comfort and relief through this generous act, reflecting the true spirit of the Lions' mission.
