![]() This project, an Oversea collaborative effort between Lions Club of Baddegama, 306 A2 - Sri Lanka and Lions Clubs of District 307-A2 (Indonesia) and Lions Clubs of District 308-A2 (Malaysia) Clubs, collaborated to establish an educational herbal garden for rural school students in Hammaliya. The project, spearheaded by the Lions Club of Baddegama, involved the planting of 50 different medicinal plants. District 306 A2 Governor and Cabinet Officers, alongside their Malaysian and Pilipinas counterparts, participated in the event. The initiative aims to educate students about the healing properties of various herbs, fostering an understanding of traditional medicine. ![]() On July 12, 2024, from 3.00pm to 4.30pm, the Lions Club of Galle Legends donated a wheelchair to Mr. Chandrapala Hettiarachchi at his residence on No 56, Sadujana Road, Galle. Due to diabetes, Mr. Hettiarachchi had been facing severe mobility challenges, and the wheelchair, valued at Rs. 48,000, provided him with much-needed support. The donation was a part of the Lions Club's ongoing commitment to improving lives through service. President Lion Methsiri De Silva, along with the club members, was present during the handover, which brought joy to both Mr. Hettiarachchi and his family. The wheelchair has greatly improved his mobility, enhancing his quality of life and independence, demonstrating the Lions Club’s dedication to community service and the values of Lion Vision. |

![]() On October 27, 2024, from 9.00am to 12.30pm, the Lions Club of Galle Legends organized a Kapruka Program at Mrs. Chandani’s residence in Ambalangoda Madampe. Led by Project Chairperson Methsiri De Silva, the initiative focused on promoting local food security and sustainable home gardening by distributing vegetable plants. A total of 175 participants, including 6 Lions Club members, gathered for the event where they received a variety of vegetable plants, such as eggplant, chili pepper, bitter melon, and bottle gourd. These plants, valued at Rs. 9,900, are expected to help improve home gardens and support self-sufficiency in the community. The program received immense appreciation from the residents, who expressed their commitment to cultivating and maintaining the plants at their homes. This project serves as a vital step towards fostering food security and highlights the Lions Club’s ongoing dedication to community service. |

The project, chaired by Lion Methsiri De Silva, aimed to encourage local food security and sustainable home gardening through the donation of 300 “Gini Waraka” jackfruit plants. With 200 community members and 6 Lions participating, the plants—valued at Rs. 54,000, with an additional Rs. 5,500 for transport—totaled Rs. 59,500. Known for their nutritional benefits and rich flavor, these plants are expected to yield fruit within three years. ![]() On August 8, 2024, from 3.00pm to 5.30pm, the Lions Club of Galle Legends conducted a "Kapruka" program at the Wathawala Community Center in Imaduwa. Led by Project Chairperson Lion Methsiri De Silva, the project focused on promoting local food sustainability and nutrition by distributing 300 “Gini Waraka” jackfruit plants. With 258 participants and 5 Lions in attendance, the initiative provided valuable fruit-bearing plants known for their taste and high nutritional value. Each plant, valued at Rs. 300, totaled Rs. 90,000. These plants are expected to bear fruit within three years, offering long-term food benefits. Many community members expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the Lions Club and its commitment to service through the Lion Vision. ![]() On September 5, 2024, from 9.00am to 12.30pm, the Lions Club of Galle Legends conducted a special meal donation project at Galle Hiyare East Junior College, led by Project Chairperson Lion A. V. Udeshana Deshapriya. A total of Rs. 81,482 was spent—Rs. 74,482 on food and Rs. 7,000 for a cook. Meals were served to 245 students and the full teaching staff, with 6 Lions participating. Ice cream was also distributed as a special treat. The project aimed to support students in a low-income area by providing nutritious meals, bringing joy and satisfaction to all involved. The school staff and children expressed heartfelt thanks to the Lions Club and praised the Lion Vision. For many students, this rare experience became a memorable day, highlighting the success of the club’s efforts to relieve hunger and uplift the community. |

![]() On December 24, 2024, from 9.00am to 12.00pm, the Lions Club of Galle Legends carried out a humanitarian wellness project at the Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital Cancer Unit. Led by Project Chairperson Lion Methsiri De Silva, the initiative provided 200 food parcels to cancer ward patients and 8 specially recommended food parcels to patients in the palliative care unit, as advised by doctors. The project, valued at Rs. 101,060 and fully funded by Lion Methsiri De Silva, reached over 200 patients battling cancer. A total of 12 Lions participated in this compassionate act. Patients, hospital staff, and doctors expressed deep gratitude and admiration for the Lions Club's dedication and the broader Lion vision. This wellness initiative reflected the club’s unwavering commitment to easing the burdens of those facing serious illness. |
