Community-Led Environmental Conservation Project by Galle Legends Lion Club

A successful environmental conservation project was carried out from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM on behalf of 125 devotees of the temple’s Dayaka Sabha and Dhamma school students. Within a short period, 50 banana saplings, 50 coconut saplings, and 25 breadfruit saplings, which produce large-sized fruits, were planted. The total value of the project was LKR 86250. This initiative was made possible through the contributions of four Lions: Lion Rasika Wimali, Lion Methsiri De Silva, Lion Ranjith Jayathileke, and Lion Neranjala Jayawardhana. With the full blessings of the Chief Prelate of the temple, this meaningful environmental project was organized by the Galle Legends Lion Club.These plants were selected as they offer high economic value, abundant yields, and significant nutritional benefits, making them highly beneficial for long-term sustainability.

Supporting Young Learners: Essential School Supplies Donation

On January 30, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, a generous initiative was carried out at Lion Methsiri de Silva’s residence, where essential school supplies were donated to support two first-grade students from an underprivileged family. One child's father is unemployed due to a severe illness, while the other child's parents are separated. Understanding their struggles, two dedicated Lions came together to provide necessary school books and supplies, ensuring these young learners have the resources they need to begin their education with confidence. The total donation amounted to LKR 9,210, reflecting the Lions' unwavering commitment to uplifting communities through meaningful action.
