On August 8, 2024, from 3.00pm to 5.30pm, the Lions Club of Galle Legends conducted a "Kapruka" program at the Wathawala Community Center in Imaduwa. Led by Project Chairperson Lion Methsiri De Silva, the project focused on promoting local food sustainability and nutrition by distributing 300 “Gini Waraka” jackfruit plants. With 258 participants and 5 Lions in attendance, the initiative provided valuable fruit-bearing plants known for their taste and high nutritional value. Each plant, valued at Rs. 300, totaled Rs. 90,000. These plants are expected to bear fruit within three years, offering long-term food benefits. Many community members expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the Lions Club and its commitment to service through the Lion Vision. This project empowered families to grow their own food and reduce hunger in the region.
