An awareness seminar and screening clinic for vision and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) was held at the YMBA Hall in Matara on April 25, 2025, in collaboration with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) office, Matara. The public was notified of this event three weeks in advance, inviting them to participate and access services free of charge. While the primary target age group was individuals aged 35 to 50, all members of the community were welcome, provided there was sufficient time and resources available.
The program featured a health staff of 18 members, including three doctors, nurses, and other health officers. Participants in need received vision tests conducted by a senior nurse under the guidance of doctors. Those identified with vision issues were referred to hospital eye clinics for further investigations and treatment
