An awareness seminar and screening clinic for Cancer and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) was conducted at the YMBA Hall in Matara on April 25, 2025, in collaboration with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) office, Matara. The public was informed about this event three weeks in advance, inviting them to participate and access services free of charge. While the primary target age group was individuals aged 35-50, all members of the community were welcome, given the availability of time and facilities. The program featured a health staff of 18 members, including three doctors, nurses, and other health officers.
Women were provided facilities to attend a preliminary breast cancer screening clinic conducted by Nursing sisters under the guidance of doctors. A few identified women were directed to the hospital for further investigation and treatment. As per the this was a very good achievement of the clinic.
