This initiative served as a valuable support activity for cancer early detection clinics. As part of this effort, a morning tea service was offered to over 150 patients and their accompanying caretakers who were visiting the outpatient department (OPD) clinic of the Apeksha Piyasa cancer unit. A significant proportion of these patients hailed from distant rural villages, often undertaking arduous journeys. To reach the hospital by their appointment time, many had to depart from their homes before the break of dawn, frequently without having had their breakfast. Consequently, the positive impact and value of this project were truly immeasurable, providing much-needed sustenance and comfort to those in need.
It is important to highlight the strong support provided by the hospital staff, whose cooperation was instrumental to the success of the initiative. Lion members actively participated in the project alongside their families, demonstrating a strong commitment to community service.
