On December 26, the Lions Club of Akmeemana Sentinels held a meaningful Tsunami Remembrance Program near the harbor in Galle, Magalle, from 4:30 PM to 6:40 PM. This event paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the tsunami through acts of compassion and cultural significance. A highlight of the program was the lighting and floating of bucket lamps on the sea, inspired by Japanese traditions, symbolizing hope and peace for the departed souls. The event was further enriched by the participation of Asami Thero, the Chief Incumbent of the Galle Japan Sama Viharaya, along with three other resident monks. Their presence and blessings brought spiritual significance to this solemn occasion. This program exemplified unity, healing, and remembrance, reflecting the Lions' commitment to honoring the past while inspiring resilience for the future.
