Under the theme "Let’s Protect Children, Let’s Care for Them," the Madurawala Lion Club celebrated World Children's Day on October 1st by providing lunch and snacks to the children and staff at Sri Sarananda Primary School. They also donated a stage backdrop to the school, which had been lacking. The children and teachers presented songs and dances, successfully celebrating World Children's Day.

The water aerobics session, led by Lion Kithsiri Ihalagamage, President of the Lions Club of Wellawatte West, was highly beneficial for the wellness of Region 01 Lions. A total of 22 Lions actively participated. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for conducting an insightful session on how to stay healthy using traditional methods. The distribution of Rath Daala traditional rice packs to all participants was a thoughtful gesture that emphasized the importance of incorporating wholesome foods into our diets.

The total scholarship disbursement amounts to Rs. 49,500. The breakdown is as follows: Rs. 2,500 per student for 3 students: Rs. 7,500 Rs. 2,000 per student for 7 students: Rs. 14,000 Rs. 1,500 per student for 6 students: Rs. 9,000 Rs. 1,000 per student for 16 students: Rs. 16,000 Rs. 750 per student for 4 students: Rs. 3,000 The project is chaired by our veteran Lion Chitral Jayawardena, who has successfully arranged sponsorships through his close relatives in Australia. We carry out this project through our Help-A-Student Account at People’s Bank, Kirulapona Branch (Account No: 319-1-001-9-1141096). This has been our signature project for nearly 10 years.

This initiative aims to alleviate some of their daily struggles and ensure they have access to essential nutrition. By supporting vulnerable families, we strive to foster community resilience and compassion.

Empowering Small Businesses: Direct Connections for Growth

We conducted a project that offers business opportunities to small business owners, allowing them to sell their products directly to large-scale shop owners through one-on-one interactions. Additionally, we provided valuable business knowledge and served snacks valued at 18 900, although the project itself should not be assessed solely on this cost.
