Lions Club’s Vision for Educational and Community Upliftment

The Galle Legends Lions Club, with the participation of Lions from Districts 3 and 8, successfully conducted a large-scale community welfare project at Nagoda Vijitha Central College. The initiative was honored by the presence of Region 8 Chairman Lion Nishantha Romesh, Region 3 Governor Lion Tharindu Ileperuma, and Lion Governor Prasad Gamage, along with other cabinet officers and Lions members from both regions. Aimed at holistic community development, the project provided essential services, including an ophthalmology clinic with free spectacles, medical check-ups with Western and Ayurvedic treatments, legal and astrological consultations, and self-employment support through the donation of coconut shell cutting machines and fruit juice production equipment. One of the project’s key focuses was education, ensuring the safety of over 1,000 students by constructing a secure main gate for the school. Books were donated to Dhamma school students, while essential parcels were distributed

Road Safety Awareness and Driver Education Project by Lions District 306 A2

Lions District 306 A2, with the support of the Legends Lions Club, organized a road safety awareness project to educate drivers on responsible driving. Three-wheeler drivers received discount vouchers for essential spare parts and services. The event was led by Lion Governor Lion Prasad Gamage PMJF/MAF, with Region 8 Zone 2 Chairperson Lion Ravindra Prasad presiding. Region 8 Chairperson, Zone 1 Chairperson, cabinet officers, and many Lions members participated. A Sri Lanka Police Traffic Division inspector provided valuable insights on accident prevention and vehicle safety. This impactful initiative aimed to promote safer driving and road discipline.
