Satisfaction - Distributing Reading classes for senior citizens

Project Chairman : Dr. Damayanthi Hikkaduwa

Project Chair person Lion Dr Damayanthi Hikkaduwa sponsored 250 reading glasses (Rs 200 x 250 = Rs 50,000). Lion yril Kariyawasam and Lion Leeka did the need analysis and found the best community to receive the reading glasses. The village committee 'Eksith welfare committee' helped to gather the community and supported the event at the Kottawa monastery. The venue facility was provided free of charge by the monks. All attendees were served finger millet porridge by the welfare society. and the volunteers were served with morning and evening tea with a snack as well as a well balanced traditional lunch. The cost to cover food was around Rs 20,000 and the cost was bared by the village welfare committee. The eye technician was hired by the club for a fee of Rs 15,000 to cover 250 elders. The mileage covered by volunteers to the venue was approximately 50km (round trip) and 11 club members participated the project. 11 Lions and 10 non Lions participated in the project

All expenses incurred by the Unilever Sri Lanka Horana. PRESIDENT LION INDIKA PADMAKUMARA and our new member lion Aruna Uthpala are Factory Managers.under their patronage Unilever sponsored the event. Cost ===== Morning snacks and tea. Buffet lunch. Providing educational support to Foster children under Finland Foster parent scholarship program.

Donation of scholarship payment for the month of July to children under Finland Foster parent scholarship program. List of beneficiaries attached. Above Rs 6000.00 paid to 28 children. Payments are being made same day Pararaly with local scholarship program.

Providing educational support to low income Foster children.

Under the local scholarship Foster parenting program selected 11 students were given Rs 22000.00 during the month of July 2024. Rs 2000.00 was given each students. This is our signature project. Re submit with relevant photos. This is not Finland Foster parent scholarship project. This is local funded scholarship project. Our lions are funding to scholarship. Each and every month we are paying this money. Both Finland scholarship and Local scholarship are paying same day same venue.

A rottee dansal was held for the people who go on pilgrimage on Esala Poya day at Mathugama town. Dhansala was held from 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm. More than 4000 people became the beneficiaries of this. As of now, we have not received the DG banner

Satisfaction - Future Builders

Youth empowerment was the main focus under 'Satisfaction - Future Builders' of DG's point programme, our club acknowledged the best performers at the Sunday school (Dhamma School) at the their prize day. Developing Dhamma school education to inculcate good values in youth to develop a better future is our aim. Project chair person was Lion Malini and we donated Rs 50,000 to cover prizes to evaluate their good performances.
