Hunger - Blind community home, Kapuhempala

Lions Club of Galupura Central deliver this project as a signature project to commemorate the white cane day at the Blind community home in Kapuhempola, Galle. The project coordinator is Lion Vijitha Kandambi and Lion Indira Kumari Kandambi. We served dinner for 20 (12 Male and 8 Female) blind people who are housed at the centre. They were offered a balance meal, sweets and gifts (sarongs for male, Gift packs for female, bath soap, washing soap, tooth paste and tooth brushes) . They were so happy to receive this treat.

White cane day -

Nominating 10 students - Multiple club Book Donation

Lion Jagath Weerasinghe conducted a multiple club project of distributing school books to students. Each club was requested to register 10 students and Galupura centra submitted 10 students of different age categories. All students received a pack worth of Rs 4000 (Gr 1 to 7)to Rs 5000 (Gr 8 to A/L) as per their class of education. Project was coordinated by the Club Secretary - Lion Thanuja. PDG Lion Dr Athula, Lion Dr Damayanthi, Lion Ruwan Chandana, Lion Dimuthu and Lion Chandrika attended the event

Donation of stationary and ice cream- Children's day

Lions club of Galupura Central working with Finland Foster parents for the past two decades and have helped very needy students to complete their primary, secondary and tertiary education. Many kids are with single parents or no parents and they need support from many arears to develop personality. We were so proud of our past foster child Hansani Erandi who is independent now and working showed gratitude to the foster programe by giving gifts and ice cream to the 32 foster kids who came to receive funds. She gave 32 packs of coloured pens and ice cream to commemorate the World Children’s day. Project coordinator Lion Palitha Jayarathna

Necessity - Youth empowerment

Project coordinator Lion Chandrani Ponnamperuma conducted a card making workshop to train the Finland foster students as a preparation to save money / to develop a small income project by making cards for the up coming festive season. All 32 students of the foster programme took part in the projects and made their Christmas cards for their Finland foster parents.

Hithawathkama - Lunch at the Children's day project

We provided Lunch (Fried rice, egg and salad) for 25 preschool students and 70 primary school students. They were treated with an ice cream after the meal and chocolates and other sweets.

Project coordinator Lion Chandrika and Lion Rajive with all supportive members at the Lions Club delivered a very beautiful day to children in this school. This schools is under the 'Siyak Sipsal' programme too. They have a Preschool and 5 classes from Grade 1 to 5. The Principal and staff is really working hard to bring a better future for the kids. We were welcome by their school band and they staged lot of dances and songs for us to see. They were given gifts and a balanced meal, ice cream to end the day.

Along with the women empowerment officers from the secretariat, Lions club of Galupura central focused on empowering women who are holding Small and Medium size Enterprises to develop their businesses and to gather more information to bring quality to their food products.

This is a signature project which Galupura Central lions are conducting every year. Project coordinator Lion Chandrani Ponnamperuma coordinated with Finagle Lanka Pvt ltd and conducted a very impacting demonstration of making snacks for evening parties / birthdays. 100 participants attended the project Chef from Finagle demonstrated 5 items and the attendees were privileged to taste all items demonstrated. They were served a fish bun from Finagle and had a very productive session. There were many entrepreneurs who will take another step forward after this programme. Project coordinator was Lion Chandrani, PDG Lion Dr Athula, Lion Dr Damayanthi, Lion Chandrani, Lion Chandrika, Lion Piyathilaka and L/L Mrs Piyathilaka and Lion Thanuja attended the event Finagle donation to club to cover cost for tea - Rs 20000 Transport from Kandana - Galle - Rs 15000 Expenses for cooking items - Rs 10000 Fish buns for 100 people - 6000

Evening snack - Vanrith home for elders

1st of October is a day we help in making isolated elders happy. They were treated with a very tasty snack and tea at Vanrith home for elders. We served cake, biscuits, cutlets, sandwiches, bananas, marshmallows and few other sweets. They enjoyed their evening snack and had a great time. there were 80 elders at Vanrith

On the elders day (Club signature project), we donated dry rations for Vanrith Elders home as per the request given by the Rev sister in-charge of the home. This is a signature project of our club. Regidale state is a 86 acre land in Kahapola and That land belongs to National zoo , Dehiwala . Bolgoda lake is in boundary of land and we thought and plated 200 Kubuk plants there . For this there are many non lions joined theirs hands with us .
